Help Western Queensland Recover from Devastating Floods

Floodwaters in Western Queensland submerge eucalyptus trees, highlighting the devastation caused by recent flooding. Support flood recovery efforts to help affected communities rebuild.

Are you wondering 'How can I support those impacted by the Western Queensland floods?'

So was I, so I went searching and have put this information together so you don't have to.

In case you missed it, in recent weeks, Western Queensland has been hit by catastrophic flooding, leaving communities devastated and in urgent need of support.

Towns like Thargomindah, Adavale, Jundah, Stonehenge, Quilpie, and Windorah have had severe flooding, with residents displaced, homes and businesses destroyed, and the agricultural sector suffering immense losses, including the tragic loss of livestock which has now surpassed 150,000.

Beyond all this, there's the immense psychological impact on our Aussie farmers.

As the region begins the long process of recovery, there are many ways you can help.

Donate to Flood Relief Efforts:

Donating money is one of the most effective ways to support recovery efforts. Several organisations are on the ground, providing immediate relief and long term recovery assistance. Here are some trusted ways you can contribute:

  • Aussie Helpers: Provide trusted support to farmers in crisis so they can get through catastrophes to allow them to thrive in the good times. You can donate to Aussie Helpers here.
  • Farm Angels (previously Drought Angels) : Farm Angels are a trusted outback support charity. At the moment they have a specific Flooded Farmer Appeal where you can donate.
  • GIVIT: Connecting donors with specific items needed by affected communities. Working with the Queensland Government, local councils and recovery organisations. You can look at what they're doing for the Western Queensland floods here.
  • Queensland Country Women's Association (QCWA): The QCWA has a Public Rural Crisis Fund that was established in 1990 to provide support for Queensland women and their families suffering from natural disasters or other crisis. You can donate here.
  • Rural Aid: Supporting farmers when disaster strikes. You can donate here.

Volunteer Your Time:

Many affected areas are in urgent need of volunteers to help clean up and rebuild. You can register your interest with the following organisations:

  • Aussie Helpers: Collect and distribute donated goods and provide invaluable support to Aussie Farmers and their families. Check out their volunteer page here.
  • BlazeAid: Helping farmers and rural communities to rebuild fences and other essential infrastructure. Check out BlazeAid's volunteering information here.
  • Rural Aid: Get involved and lend a hand. Register to become a volunteer here.
